Iron Sucrose is injectable and, therefore, an efficient way to replenish iron stores. It is generally administered under healthcare supervision.
Iron Sucrose provides elemental iron to the body, which is necessary for the production of hemoglobin and red blood cells. Each iron molecule, once injected, binds with transferrin, which is a blood protein responsible for delivering iron to the marrow where red blood cells are generated. The transferrin + iron then travels to the marrow tissues and allows the body to utilize the injected iron to restore hemoglobin and ultimately allow for effective delivery of oxygen in the body.
